Atlas Villages Hike

Spend 3 days exploring the high peaks of the Atlas Mountains on foot. A hike amidst cool vegetation of juniper and pine trees is a perfect way to rejuvenate your mind and body. Go across deep gorges, gushing river streams and groves of cherry and walnut trees, as your guide takes you on a great walk up and down the beautiful hills. Visit their homes and interact with them to know more about their traditions and customs. See their terraced fields of corn and barley and get a glimpse

Most successful treks are tailor made with client requirements, age and numbers in consideration. Please have dates in mind and approximate number of people.
All our treks include an English speaking guide, mules and a cook, transport to and from Marrakech and all food whilst on the trek.

Walking Itinerary

Day 1: MARRAKECH – IMI OURGHLAD – TIZI N’TACHT – TISSI OUSSEM. Departure from Marrakech for south winding our way up through the higher foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains and our trailhead of Imi Ourghlad (1430m). We set off for a 2 hour acclimatisation hike up switchback mule tracks to the Tizi n’Tacht (2000m), where we shall stop for lunch before carrying on for about 4 hours south-west down along a dirt track to the Assif n’AÏt Ouzzaden for our accommodation in a gîte to TISSI OUSSEM (1730m).

Day 2: TISSI OUSSEM – TIZI M’ZIK – AROUMD. We strike out up through pine and juniper trees to traverse the Tizi M’Zik and descend slowly to the foot of the col just before the hamlet of M’Zik (1806m). This afternoon, we set off down to the Berber trailhead village of towards M’Zik, where we may take our lunch and then a welcome in the gîte d’étape at the village of aroumd.

Day 3: AROUMD TIDLI – TAMETERT – MARRAKECH. Leaving Aroumd we trek up towards the Tidli pass from where we can look down into the deep gorge of the Imlil valley. After descending for an hour from the pass we stop for lunch beside the river in the tiny village of Tametert. After lunch we rejoin our vehicle to take us back to Marrakech.
