Ouirgane Village Hike
From Ouirgane the treks starts by passing through arable land with wild flowers, following the river valley then passes through a zone where small hills with open forest and through isolated Berber hamlets towards the traditional salt mines at Marigha, from where the salt is carried on donkeys to the neighbouring villages to be sold.
Most successful treks are tailor made with client requirements, age and numbers in consideration. Please have dates in mind and approximate number of people. |
All our treks include an English speaking guide, mules and a cook, transport to and from Marrakech and all food whilst on the trek. |
Walking Itinerary
Day 1 Marrakech – Ouirgane – Assif Zagzawne. Departure is from Marrakech at around 9am, arriving at the trek starting point within an hour by taxi. We will have a refreshing mint tea in a Berber house and then cross the small town of Ouirgane. Then we will head up to the village of Tamgercht where we take our lunch stop and where one can also have a little siesta under the walnut trees. After lunch we will take a gentler walk to the village of Assif Zagzawne, where we will stay the night in a Berber house and be served a traditional Moroccan meal.
Day 2 Assif Zagzawne – Anraz – Ouirgane – Marrakech. On our second day, we head back to Ouirgane via Adrar Takherkhorte where one can enjoy some spectacular views of the High Atlas. After that it is downhill all the way to Ouirgane via the Berber villages of Anraz, Agouni and Douar id Salah, arriving in Ouirgane at around 4 pm. There the taxi will be waiting to collect you and take you back to Marrakesh (or, by arrangement, elsewhere for which there may be a surcharge).
