From Marrakech, we drive up into the High Atlas Mountains where we stay for a four nights at a remote mountain lodge, offering great hiking deeper into the mountain valleys. We then cross several passes and follow this hiking itinerary level are designed to provide An enjoyable 4 hour ramble through the High Atlas Mountains past authentic Berber villages,

Most successful treks are tailor made with client requirements, age and numbers in consideration. Please have dates in mind and approximate number of people.

All our treks include an English speaking guide, mules and a cook, transport to and from Marrakech and all food whilst on the trek.

Walking Itinerary

Day 1: MARRAKECH – IMI OURGHLAD – TIZI N’TACHT – TISSI OUSSEM. Departure from Marrakech to trailhead of Imi Ourghlad (1430m) Here we alight from our vehicle and meet up with our Berber muleteer crew. We set off for a 2 hour acclimatisation hike up by cornfields woods of pine and juniper to the Tizi n’Tacht (2000m), where carrying on for another 1/2 an hour to Imi n’lfri. A slow hike for about 3 hours south-west down along a dirt track for our gîte to TISSI OUSSEM (1730m).

Day 2: TISSI OUSSEM – TIZI M’ZIK – AROUMD. We strike out up through pine and juniper trees to traverse the Tizi M’Zik and descend slowly to the foot of the col just before the hamlet of M’Zik (1806m). This afternoon, we set off down to the Berber trailhead village of towards M’Zik, where we may take our lunch and then a welcome hot shower in the gîte d’étape of our guide, Mohamed at the village of aroumd.

Day 3: AROUMD – Sidi Chamarouch – AROUMD. From aroumd village we take a walk to the holy shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, following the Mizane Valley. Straddling a gorge, the village and the shrine sit besides a small waterfall. The village is a jumbled cluster of houses that seem to melt together in a chaotic mass. After lunch we follow the track back downhill towards Aremd. (Total walking approx 5-6 hrs)

Day 4: AROUMD – TIZI-n’TAMETERT – OUANESKRA. Leaving Aroumd we trek up towards the Tizi-n’Tametert pass from where we can look down into the deep gorge of the Imanane valley. After descending for an hour from the pass we stop for lunch beside the river in the tiny village of Tinhourine. In the afternoon we follow the river to our gite at Ouanskra village.

Day 5: OUANESKRA – TAMGIST – IKKIS – IMENANE VALLEY – TIZI n’AGUERSIOUÅL – MARRAKECH. We set out today towards the east, up winding mule tracks to the tamgist (2269m) on our way to ikkis (2100m) We set off down to the Assif Imenane Valley, passing through several Berber hamlets and thence up to the Tizi Aguersiouâl (1938m). Once through the col we shall now go down more winding mule tracks leading to the village of Aguersiouâl where we rejoin our vehicle to take us back to Marrakech.
